“Success is not the work of one, but the work of many”

Alani McLeod

Ngāti Porou, Te Aitanga a Mahaki, Rongowhakaata

Alani has just completed her first year of Engineering and hopes to specialise in Mechanical Engineering next year. Born and raised in Tairāwhiti, she hopes to one day use her engineering expertise to give back to the community that has shaped her journey. She finds the idea of contributing to meaningful societal impacts both exciting and fulfilling. Alani is inspired by Matai Institute’s strong sense of community and appreciation and integration of mātauranga Māori. She is ready to embrace every opportunity that arises through her time at Matai. She hopes to gain practical knowledge and learn from the experiences of those around her, all while contributing to work that uplifts and empowers her community.
