Brayden Maxwell, a dedicated and ambitious student from Gisborne, has successfully completed a Certificate of Health Science at the University of Auckland and is set to complete a Bachelor of Biomedical Science in 2025. His end goal is to work in the healthcare industry to provide equitable care to his Māori communities. This internship marks a pivotal step in his academic and professional journey, offering invaluable insight into the intricacies of the healthcare sector and what to expect in his possible future career as a healthcare provider. Growing up in Te Tairāwhiti, the health inequities Brayden has witnessed within his Māori communities remains pervasive. These inequities have influenced his aspirations, driving his passion to become a healthcare professional and challenge these differences to provide equitable healthcare for Māori populations.
