Mātai inspires Noah because it brings together everything he values in science, innovation, people, and making a meaningful impact. He is focussed on research that improves lives, especially when it he can bring back his knowledge to the community he calls home. The internship offers the chance to learn from matai researchers across many different pathways and to gain hands-on experience that adds to his studies, as well as building relationships with supervisors. His long-term goal is to return to Tairāwhiti and give back to the region that raised him. Being part of Mātai’s research-focused internship would be an important step toward achieving this vision.
