Professor Pejman Ghanouni and Clinical Assistant Professor Rachelle Bitton from Stanford University School of Medicine’s Department of Radiology are visiting Tairāwhiti to support the Mātai team as it establishes New Zealand’s first MRI-guided prostate cancer ablation clinical service. They will generously share their clinical and technical expertise in MRI-guided prostate cancer treatments, including the latest developments in image-guided ultrasound ablation.

About the Speakers

Rachelle Bitton is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Stanford University. With a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, her research specialises in MRI-guided focused ultrasound, MR thermometry and image-guided interventions, including applications in prostate cancer treatment.

Pejman Ghanouni is a Professor of Radiology at Stanford University and an internationally recognised expert in MRI-guided focused ultrasound treatments. He is Director of Stanford Health Care’s Minimally Invasive MR Interventional Center and Focused Ultrasound Center of Excellence, and Chief of Stanford’s Division of Body MRI.
