This project aims to develop a clinical monitoring pathway for children with asthma in Tairāwhiti-Gisborne using novel lung MRI. This clinical pathway will provide children in Tairāwhiti-Gisborne access to state-of-the-art techniques for assessing and managing asthma currently unavailable in New Zealand. The imaging data will help provide a more comprehensive understanding of the health status of children with asthma in Tairāwhiti-Gisborne.

A secondary goal of this research is to develop novel 3D visualisation tools to help clinicians, patients and the community improve their understanding of asthma by illustrating how asthma symptoms affect the lungs regionally.
