Wendy Mohi

Research Associate

Wendy Mohi is supporting a pilot study at Mātai, which aims to compare substitution therapy (methylphenidate) with abstinence in a model of methamphetamine withdrawal and sustained non-use. Wendy is passionate about effecting a drug-free environment in the Tairāwhiti region by 2030. She is committed to enabling and informing members of the community of the huge impacts and effects drug & alcohol have on us all. As a former NZ Police Sergeant, she has witnessed first hand the chronic and devastating effects that drug and alcohol abuse has had on our communities, whanau, friends and loved ones. She believes education and taking a proactive approach right across the board makes a difference. Wendy extensive experience in drug management and monitoring systems. She has facilitated and tailored drug and education programmes and workshops for the past 7 years in the Tairāwhiti and Wairoa district, including in workplaces and secondary schools.

 

She says “It is an absolute pleasure to be part of the Matai whānau. Implementing both a medical and holistic approach to this pilot study demonstrates that success is already evident.”
