Campus Vision
The Mātai campus will transform healthcare in Tairāwhiti and beyond. Focused on innovation, education, and community engagement, Mātai aims to set new standards in medical research and patient care, driving significant regional and national benefits.
Spanning 2.5 hectares, the Mātai campus will foster innovation, research, and community engagement. It will feature state-of-the-art medical facilities, including an Imaging Centre for Excellence, Technology and Al Innovation Hub and a STEM education centre, with accommodation for visiting clinicians, scientists, researchers, and innovators.
By co-locating with private hospital facilities and innovative clinics with
integrating resources, we will emulate the Mayo Clinic’s success, driving innovation and improving patient outcomes. Joint academic clinical appointments with Gisborne Hospital and other local providers will create a robust medical research and healthcare network.
Investment Opportunities
We are seeking strategic philanthropic investment and funding to propel the Matai Campus into its next two phases, stage 2 & 3.
These stages encompass critical infrastructure, an Innovation Centre, a private hospital with community focus and accommodation for a thriving community of scholars, clinicians, technologists, scientists and engineers.
Opportunities include tailored building, infrastructure and equipment investments or sponsorships.
